An auction house in the Netherlands asked me to verify if this was a Laura Wheeler Waring painting. Here's why I know it is not.

Recently a group of member writers from Biographers International have begun meeting online as the Black Lives Roundtable. Participating in this group only amplifies my joy in writing the biography of Laura Wheeler Waring.

Laura Wheeler Waring was one of several prolific African American artists to illustrate The Brownies' Book, an early magazine (1920-21) created exclusively for "the children of the sun"... Here is Waring's Halloween tableau illustrating a poem for the season...
